A two year multi property trial into multi species crop cover

This week, Gerard spoke with Rick Roberston (Chair of the Bengworden Landcare Group) and group members Rose and Louie Maher.

The Mahers are one of several farming businesses embarking on a two year trial looking at multi species crop cover on the Red Gum Plains between Sale and Bairnsdale.

The group is hosting a 'Ute Tour' of several sites on Monday January 18. Details below: *Demonstration sites have been established across the district and summer cover crops are ready to be viewed. When: Monday 18/1/2021 at 9.30 am Where: Laurie and Robyn Williams, 977 Boundary Road, Bengworden.

We will then visit Cover cropping demonstration sites at the Reed, Deery and Robertson properties. At the sites we will be: - reviewing crop progress - discussing challenges - sharing experiences Lunch is BYO. Tea and coffee provided. As we are still living in a ‘Covid’ world plans may change.
